Changing the IP/Hostname of a vIDM Connector

WARNING: Don’t be that guy, always backup before making system changes.

Today I found the need to change some things in my lab. I need to do some re-IP’ing and really generally rearrange things since I’ve expanded the lab. I was having a difficult time finding any documentation on changing the IP of a vIDM Connector. I finally figured it out, and here’s how it went.

Reconfigure DNS

Change your DNS and RDNS entries for the Connector appliance within your DNS server environment such as Active Directory.

Change the IP/Hostname

Run the networking wizard located at /usr/local/horizon/scripts/networkwizard.hzn. Change the hostname and/or IP settings.

After rebooting, if the configuration is reverted, you’ll want to rerun the wizard and delete the following files:

  • /etc/sysconfig/network/routes.bak
  • /etc/resolv.conf.bak
  • /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0.bak

After this, your IP and hostname should be changed successfully.
